NETWORK IMAGING ACQUIRES MICROFICHE REPLACEMENT TECHNOLOGY FROM LASER ACQUISITION CORPORATION

HERNDON, Va., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Network Imaging Corporation ("NIC") (NASDAQ: IMGX; BSE: IGX) today said it completed the purchase of Computer Output to Alser Disk (COLD) software products and technology from Laser Acquisition Corporation for 250,000 shares of common stock.
The new software enables users to replace standard microfiche storage, which is slow and unautomated, with on-line optical storage and retrieval which provides fast access of data through the use of a computer.
The microfiche market today represents a $2 billion industry and most industry analysts forecast that 50 percent of the microfiche market will be replaced by COLD technology over the next two years. Network officials said they expect their new COLD product offerings to generate roughly $10 million incremental revenue over the next 12 months.
The company said its newly acquired COLD products handle very high volume and high speed data capture and storage (representing millions of pages of data per day) in applications for banking, brokerage, insurance and retail markets. They connect directly to IBM mainframes and will complement NIC's existing COLD products which operate with PCs over LAN networks.
Network Imaging Corporation designs, integrates and markets document imaging systems and optical storage products. NIC's flagship product, ImageXchange(TM), provides businesses with an automated method of electronically processing, storing and retrieving large quantities of documents such as insurance forms, credit card receipts, checks and legal records. NIC's other flagship product, the SPANServer(TM), provides a complete plug-and-play optical disk storage solution on UNIX-based and Novell systems.
