NETRIX EXPANDS NORTH AMERICAN PRESENCE VIA ROLM AGREEMENT

HERNDON, Va., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Netrix Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: NTRX) today announced an agreement with ROLM Network Systems and Services under which ROLM, a Siemens company, will market Netrix No.1 ISS products, primarily to Fortune 500 companies in the United States and Canada. Through this relationship, Netrix will significantly expand its presence in North America, and ROLM customers will now be able to take advantage of Netrix' integrated switching technology to consolidate their LAN, terminal-to-host, and voice networks. ROLM and Siemens will provide service and support for the products worldwide.
Charles W. Stein, president and CEO of Netrix Corporation, said, "The agreement between ROLM and Netrix combines the companies' respective expertise in voice and data networking. This relationship will greatly expand Netrix' coverage of North America. We have had a great deal of success with indirect channels in the federal and international markets, and are applying a similar strategy to major corporations in the United States and Canada."
The agreement with ROLM represents an expansion of the global agreement between Siemens AG and Netrix that was announced in October 1992. Under the terms of that agreement, Siemens is selling and supporting products that are based on Netrix technology.
Netrix Corporation manufactures and markets products that are used to build new corporate networks and to consolidate multiple application- specific networks into more effective enterprise-wide networks. Netrix customers include major financial organizations, government agencies, retail chains, and value-added service providers. Netrix products are sold and supported by a direct sales organization, distributors, systems integrators, and original equipment manufacturers worldwide.
