VALENCIA - If soaking up the sun on the open seas, dining on endless buffets and dancing till dawn aren't enough, vacationers on Valencia- based Princess Cruise ocean liners can now surf the Net To browse the Internet. The most common Internet browsing today is done on the Web. Before the Web, the Internet was "surfed" via Archie, Gopher, WAIS and other search facilities. Passengers who pack their own laptop now have access to the Internet on all 14 Princess vessels. Internet time In the early days of the public Internet, Internet time referred to the breakneck speed with which companies scrambled to gain traffic and market share on the Web. A new business could come and go within a matter of weeks.  is available for 35 cents a minute.

Connections will be available in the ships' atrium areas and some vessels will have Internet Cafes.

``Staying connected is important to many of our passengers,'' said Jan Swartz, Princess' senior vice president of customer service and sales.

Passengers may buy time on Princess' Wireless Network at the passenger services desk at a rate of $10.50 for 30 minutes. To access the network, users will need a laptop with wireless capabilities. Passengers with computers that do not already have a wireless network card can buy a Windows XP The previous client version of Windows. XP was a major upgrade to the client version of Windows 2000 with numerous changes to the user interface. XP improved support for gaming, digital photography, instant messaging, wireless networking and sharing connections to the Internet.  compatible card on board.
