Residents of Robindale Place said goodbye Thursday to neighbor and Olympian Mark Crear Mark Crear (born November 2, 1968 in San Francisco, California) is a double Olympic medalist in the 110 m hurdles from the United States. ``On my street, everybody got together,'' she said. ``We're trying to keep that. The more block parties we do, the better friends we become.''

Crear, last year's top-ranked 110-meter hurdler, has developed a following among his neighbors, who call themselves ``The Robindale Fan Club.''

``We watch every time he's been at a trial, every race he's run,'' said Don Spiller Sr., whose garage sported a banner reading ``Run Mark Run!''

Neighbors said Crear's commitment to family and sports makes him an ideal role model for children and adults alike.

``He's so great,'' Williams said. ``He's dedicated not only to his sport but to his family. It's just nice to see a man so well rounded. He's a great neighbor, a great family man. He's just a nice person.''

On Sunday, his family and neighbors will watch Crear compete in the preliminary heat. Crear said the high expectations of his friends and family add pressure to do well, but he's more than ready.

``I'm just happy,'' he said. ``I have a big heart. It just makes me feel good that everybody else has a good heart.''
