These different software components might be classified according to the functions within the Open Systems  developers, today announced the Network Equipment Building Systems' (NEBS) Level 3 certification of its AC-specified N-1500 R2 platform. The N-1500 R2 is uniquely designed to meet the demand for high reliability, long-life deployments in AC-powered environments and is the first such platform of its kind. It offers Telecommunication Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) greater deployment choices using NEI's full line of carrier-grade solutions to open new market opportunities, accelerate time-to-market and deliver leading-edge performance.

The N-1500 R2 features dual- or quad-core Intel Xeon processors and up to 24 GB of memory. The certification tests are an extensive set of environmental and safety tests designed to ensure maximum network performance and reliability under stressful conditions.
