NEC-MITSUBISHI ELECTRONICS DEBUTS ACCUSYNC LCD MONITORS.

NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America, Inc., the number one stand-alone vendor of flat panel desktop displays , has debuted two new NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98).

NEC was founded in Tokyo in 1899 as Nippon Electric Company, Ltd.

The high-quality 15-inch NEC AccuSync LCD51VM and the 17-inch NEC LCD71VM displays with multimedia capabilities are priced aggressively at $329 ESP (1) (Enhanced Service Provider) An organization that adds value to basic telephone service by offering such features as call-forwarding, call-detailing and protocol conversion.  and $469 ESP to accelerate NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display's advance into mainstream home, education and small to medium-sized business environments. These multimedia-enhanced LCD displays offer outstanding performance and sound when bundled with a computer system.

"While more than 24 percent of LCD monitors were bundled along with a new computer system in 2002, the standalone market still represents a sizeable marketplace," said Jennifer Gallo, research analyst, PC Displays and Projectors at IDC. "With flat panel revenue on track to overtake CRTs for the first time in 2003, it has become even more important for vendors to design high-performance, competitively priced products."

Delivering advanced multimedia capabilities traditionally seen only in high end models, the NEC AccuSync LCD51VM and LCD71VM have front firing speakers integrated into the bezel The front cover of a desktop or tower computer case. The term also refers to the individual drive bay covers, which are removed to install CD-ROMs and other removable drives that require access from the front of the case.  that provide top-quality audio performance. The monitors help to enhance user productivity by producing vibrant images with high brightness levels of 250 cd/m2 (typical) and multiple resolutions of up to 1024 x 768 for the 15-inch model and 1280 x 1024 for the 17-inch model. NEC's Rapid Response screen-enhancing technology enables the monitors to generate quick response times of 30ms or less for uninterrupted display of full-motion video Video transmission that changes the image 30 frames per second (30 fps). Motion pictures are run at 24 fps, which is the minimum frequency required to eliminate the perception of moving frames and make the images appear visually fluid to the eye.  and achieve as many as 40 frames per second for improved viewing of games, presentations and streaming video.

"Affordable LCD monitors are now a reality for mainstream users who are seeking more sophisticated features that offer a solid return on investment and as an industry leader NEC-Mitsubishi is driven to fulfill this need," said Hans Baumann, senior product manager, for NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display of America, Inc. "We are dedicated to providing systems builders with the high quality products and services needed to further mainstream adoption of LCD monitors and we foresee the NEC AccuSync LCD51VM and LCD71VM commanding widespread attention among this market segment."

The NEC AccuSync LCD series monitors consume up to 70 percent less energy than comparable CRT (1) (C RunTime) See runtime library.
