Short-Depth Monitor Offers Users Space-Saving, High-Quality,

Cost-Effective Solution

NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98).

NEC was founded in Tokyo in 1899 as Nippon Electric Company, Ltd.
Technologies, a leading provider of desktop display solutions, today announced the MultiSync(R) E950(TM), the first 19-inch (18.0 viewable image size On a computer monitor, the viewable image size or VIS is the actual amount of screen space that is available to display a picture, without obstruction from the case or other aspects of the unit's design. ) short-depth monitor designed for corporate, small-office and performance-driven home users. (2) (Cathode Ray Tube) A vacuum tube used as a display screen in a computer monitor or TV. The viewing end of the tube is coated with phosphors, which emit light when struck by electrons.
, the MultiSync E950 delivers exceptional image quality in a footprint the size of most conventional 15-inch monitors.

By offering higher resolutions and refresh rates, the newest addition to the MultiSync Enterprise Series of monitors provides users with flicker-free, crisp images. In addition, its use of NEC Technologies' exclusive short-depth CromaClear CRT allows the MultiSync E950 to offer a mask pitch of .25mm while maintaining a sharp focus and bright, color-saturated images from edge-to-edge.

"The MultiSync E950 is ideal for companies that are looking to upgrade to 19-inch monitors but are concerned about space and price constraints," said Andres Maldonado, product line manager, Personal Display Division. "The monitor's compact design frees up valuable desktop space and provides a larger viewable area, increasing productivity."

Short-Depth CromaClear CRT

The MultiSync E950 is the first 19-inch monitor to utilize CromaClear CRT technology. A breakthrough in display technology, the CromaClear CRT uses a slot mask design established in the television industry (which uses a similar slot arrangement) in order to provide users with superior vertical and horizontal definition.

The CromaClear CRT excels when displaying complex images or fine text, making it a perfect fit for users with a preference for the most precise image quality. Overall, use of the CromaClear CRT results in sharper, more precise images, better overall image contrast, enhanced depth and dimension, and dramatically improved color saturation.

The shorter depth is due to the 100-degree deflection CRT, which reduces the cabinet depth over conventional 19" CRT monitors. Plus, NEC's patented circuit design, with dual dynamic beam focus, ensures excellent edge-to-edge focus, including corners.

MultiSync Quality

As with all MultiSync monitors, the MultiSync E950 is Plug and Play compatible, allowing for easy set-up and installation.

To meet the demands of today's high-level business and home applications, the MultiSync E950 monitor has a horizontal scan range of 31Khz to 96Khz and a vertical scan range of 55Hz to 160Hz. The MultiSync E950 runs at a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 at 77Hz or at the recommended resolution of 1280 x 1024 at 85Hz.

The MultiSync E950 also gives users increased control over the screen image through NEC's exclusive OSM OSM Oregon Steel Mills, Inc.

As with other MultiSync Enterprise Series monitors, the MultiSync E950 features an asset management capability, allowing IT and office services departments to easily track and locate monitors across the organization.
