NEC Supplies HSDPA Infrastructure Systems to NTT DoCoMo.

    High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is a 3G (third generation) mobile telephony communications protocol in the High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) family, which allows networks based on Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) to have higher data
     (HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) See HSPA. ) infrastructure systems to NTT DoCoMo, which successfully launched a HSDPA service in Japan on August 31, 2006.

    Prior to this commercial service, NTT DoCoMo conducted a field trial of the high-speed network which NEC cooperated and supplied HSDPA infrastructure systems including node-B base stations and radio network controllers (RNC RNC Republican National Committee (US)

    RNC Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (provincial police force) 
    ). During the trial, the performance of NEC's HSDPA systems was verified through the achievement of a maximum data download speed in the commercial HSDPA service area of 3.6Mbps and other features such as flexible and variable transmission speed control in various radio wave environments.

    NEC also delivered HSDPA mobile handsets "N902iX HIGH-SPEED" for this new commercial service in Japan.

    As a total solution provider of 3G services, NEC has proven the commercial viability of its 3G infrastructure systems for HSDPA. Besides NTT DoCoMo, NEC has carried out HSDPA trials through the cooperation of local mobile operators overseas such as Hutchison 3G in Hong Kong and UK. The shipments of HSDPA infrastructure systems for commercial services are expected to step up within this fiscal year.
