NEC Solutions America Expands Media Solutions Division; Names Director of Digital Cinema Projector Sales and Manager of Digital Cinema Engineering.

The Media Solutions Division leverages NEC's world-class expertise in visual display and server products, and integration services to develop specialized, turnkey solutions for the delivery and management of digital content.

Peter Nicholas will oversee sales of NEC's STAR*Beam(TM) DLP (Digital Light Processing) A data projection technology from TI that produces clear, readable images on screens in lit rooms. DLP is used in all types of projection devices, from data projectors that weigh only a few pounds to large rear-projection TVs to electronic  Cinema(R) projector product line, including the STAR*Beam iS8 projector and STAR*Beam iS15 projector, as well as future DLP Cinema projector offerings. Bob Lelle will manage the engineering development of NEC's industry-leading STARUS(TM) digital cinema system including the STAR*Cor(TM) multiplex server, the STAR*Show(TM) screen servers, and the STAR*Beam DLP Cinema projectors.

Nicholas previously worked for Digital Projection International (DPI (Dots Per Inch) The measurement of the resolution of display and printing systems. A typical CRT screen provides 96 dpi, which provides 9,216 dots per square inch (96x96).
