), today announced that NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98).

NEC was founded in Tokyo in 1899 as Nippon Electric Company, Ltd.

AvantGard-Risk will be implemented at NEC's head office in Tokyo, Japan. AvantGard-Risk will support SunGard's AvantGard-Quantum solution which was implemented by NEC's group treasury operations in 2002.

In seeking a treasury solution, NEC required a single, integrated treasury system to replace a number of its existing inhouse and locally developed systems. SunGard's AvantGard solution helps NEC control its treasury operations and focus on strategic risk management to achieve the most appropriate risk hedging solutions.
