NEC Selects S3's Savage4 For its New Mate NX and VALUESTAR NX Series of PCs; S3 Wins Business in Both the Consumer and Commercial Lines at NEC.

: SIII) announced today that NEC's highly-acclaimed Mate NX and VALUESTAR NX PCs are all shipping with S3's Savage4 3D accelerators.

The Mate NX and VALUESTAR lines are currently shipping in mass production and are designed specifically to meet the needs of the high-volume commercial and consumer desktop markets respectively.

About the Savage4 Solution

As the only chip to support 2Kx2K textures, true 32-bit color and S3 texture compression S3 Texture Compression (S3TC) (sometimes also called DXTn or DXTC) is a group of related image compression algorithms originally developed by Iourcha et al of S3 Graphics, Ltd.  (S3TC S3TC S3 Texture Compression ), the Savage4 accelerator has already been adopted by more than 40 customers worldwide.
