NEC Corp. Establishes Strategic and Steering Committees to Oversee Global PC and Server Business; Appoints Couder to Chair Both Committees.


SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 2, 1999--NEC Corporation has named Alain Couder, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Packard Bell NEC (Packard Bell, The Netherlands, www.packardbell.com) A major PC manufacturer that is the consumer brand of NEC Computers International and the home computing market leader in the U.K. and much of Western Europe.  Inc., to serve as chairman of the two principal committees that will set the strategic direction and coordinate the inter-company activities of NEC's three regional personal computer and Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking.  server operations. Reporting to this committee will be seven subcommittees, which will seek to leverage the company's regional operations for a common, global benefit. With representatives from all three regions, these subcommittees will manage common issues in operations, commercial and consumer sales, research and development, service and support, purchasing and communication.
