NEC America partners with CommSys to deliver premier integrated criminal justice services.

NEC Solutions (America), Inc., a premier provider of integrated solutions for public safety agencies in North America, has announced the further expansion of its information services for law enforcement through its partnership with CommSys, Inc., a leading provider of high-quality middleware and services to government and business environments. The immediate result of the relationship is the delivery of data migration services to Maui County (Hawaii) Police Department (MPD), which makes historical arrest, incident and evidence data available in the new NEC Solutions Records Management System (RMS). The relationship also guarantees integrated access to state, national, regional and local crime information centers (CIC) and the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) via a comprehensive, easy-to-use interface.

The upgraded system, which integrates NEC Solutions' RMS with CommSys' ConnectCIC Transaction Workflow Engine, allows the MPD to seamlessly access interstate records without dealing with the different user interfaces of each state, thus reducing the risk associated with repeat data entry.

NEC's Public Safety Solution applications significantly bolster agencies' crime-fighting capabilities, streamline and integrate information processes, and allow officials to better allocate departmental resources. Moreover, NEC Solutions' work with CommSys enables the integration of a department's information system with those of other local and state agencies, making it easier to track criminals across multiple jurisdictions.

The ConnectCIC family of products enables public safety software vendors to have access to one or more state, national, regional and local CIC systems via a common interface tool. This tool includes, at minimum, access to each state's defined basic query options, such as information on wanted persons, vehicle registrations, drivers' licenses, and stolen vehicles, boats, guns and other articles.
