NDIA announces 2005 Skibbie Scholarship recipients.Heather Lacroix and Yevgeniya Gokun are winners of the 2005 Lawrence E Skibbie Graduate Scholarship Award. Lacroix is currently an operations research analyst for the U.S. Army Operational Test Command at Fort Hood, Texas. She is pursuing a master-of-science degree in operations research at Southern Methodist University Southern Methodist University, at Dallas, Tex.; United Methodist; coeducational; chartered 1911. The school's facilities include laboratories for electron microscopy and stable isotopes, a museum of paleontology, and a graduate research center. in order to move into higher level testing and eventually into project management. Gokun, who recently received a graduate teaching assistantship as·sis·tant·ship n. An academic position that carries a stipend and usually involves part-time teaching or research, given to a qualified graduate student. in the Mathematics and Statistics Department at Wright State University, is pursuing a master-of-science degree in applied statistics. After graduate school, she plans to work in the defense or national security industry. The executive committee of the National Defense Industrial Association established the Skibbie Scholarship Award in 2001. It is intended to support one or more advanced graduate students in engineering, science or management.
