NDIA's San Diego Small Business Committee.


The small business committee of the National Defense Industrial Association's chapter in San Diego presents quarterly forums that address issues of concern for the defense small business community. The committee has been working in conjunction with Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR SPAWAR Space & Naval Warfare Systems Command (US Navy)

Attention in these forums has focused on such topics as the Defense Department mentor-protege program, Navy Marine Corps Internet (NMCI) Information Strike Force, the replacement of the SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) system with NAICS NAICS North American Industry Classification System  (North American Industrial Classification System), business opportunities via SPAWAR's new website and an overview of the new SPAWAR electronic RFP (Request For Proposal) A document that invites a vendor to submit a bid for hardware, software and/or services. It may provide a general or very detailed specification of the system.

A subcommittee, which recommended changes for RFP standardization, recently received approval, acceptance and implementation of these recommendations by the SPAWAR Command. The agenda for their next Small Business Forum features a SPAWAR ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) An integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise. ) update and a specific focus on the vendor payment process and payment issues with participation of the Defense Financial Accounting System, Defense Contract Management Agency and Defense Contracting Auditing Agency. This forum will also provide an introduction of the chapter's new member database, which will include a capabilities profile of small businesses for viewing by prime contractors, government contracting entities and potential corporate partners.
