Raleigh (IPA: /ˈrɑli/, ral-ee) is the capital of the State of North Carolina and the county seat of Wake County.
, USA said its researchers have discovered tree-specific genetic "on/off switches" that could lead to better understanding of how trees form wood and resist stress. Discovery of miRNAs is leading to novel insights into the control of gene expression, or the physical traits governed by genes, during development. Current research into plant miRNAs had centered on Arabidopsis, an herbaceous plant herbaceous plant (hûrbā`shəs), plant whose stem is soft and green and shows little growth of wood. The term is used to distinguish such plants from woody plants.  with a fully sequenced genome believed to be a good basis for all plant genetic research, including tree research.
