NCR ANNOUNCES FIRST SINGLE-SUPPLIER PRODUCT FOR ELECTRONIC FORMS AUTOMATION

 DAYTON, Ohio, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Businesses, which spend an estimated $360 billion yearly to manually process paper-based forms, can now achieve huge gains in productivity, significant cost reduction, and competitive advantage from a new electronic forms product and related services from NCR Corporation.
 NCR's Electronic Forms Group announced today the first single- supplier solution to help companies automate forms processing and move to a workplace free from paper. Users can send form data electronically, not only across local area networks but to locations across the country or around the world using AT&T Mail on AT&T EasyLink Services' network. No separate purchase of electronic-mail software is necessary.
 "NCR is the first company to bring together all the parts -- application software, hardware platforms, worldwide communications, business forms expertise, forms engineering and customer support -- into a single electronic forms automation package called NCR Liberty," said Richard Litwinko, NCR's Business Forms Division vice president and general manager.
 In developing Liberty, NCR, an AT&T (NYSE: T) company, teamed with Delrina Corporation, the market leader in forms and fax software, and AT&T EasyLink Services, the global messaging unit of AT&T.
 "Processing paperwork is a fundamental bottleneck in today's office environment," added Litwinko. "NCR Liberty combines all the capabilities a company will need to go fully electronic immediately or move incrementally to a paper-forms free workplace over time. As companies re-engineer their processes to increase customer satisfaction and achieve greater operational efficiencies, electronic forms automation can play a key role in this process," said Litwinko.
 Running on either a desktop (client/server) or portable PC, NCR's Liberty replaces manual, paper-based form fill and routing with a totally electronic process. Customer orders, expense reports, insurance forms, salesperson management reports can now be sped electronically anywhere in the world for final processing. NCR Liberty automatically lifts information contained on electronic forms so it can become part of a company's database.
 NCR's Liberty provides a powerful set of new capabilities for the increasing number of mobile and virtual office workers in the U.S. and around the world. With NCR Liberty, a mobile salesperson, for example, can electronically complete the following without leaving the customer's office:
 -- Discuss and determine proper specifications of proposed customer order;
 -- Check inventory levels of items to be ordered;
 -- Price and apply appropriate customer discounts and taxes to the proposed order;
 -- Prepare and print a proposal for the customer to sign;
 -- Finalize the order and enter it via PC modem or PC cellular modem;
 -- Receive order confirmation.
 NCR Liberty is composed of two modules that can be purchased separately. Liberty Designer/Filler is the form application development tool. Liberty Filler is the run-time module which permits users to fill and route forms electronically.
 Liberty Designer/Filler utilizes state-of-the-art technology that allows electronic forms to be designed, completed, and routed throughout an organization using electronic mail systems such as Microsoft Mail and cc:Mail. Wide-area Networking capabilities are embedded into the product through AT&T Mail which allows forms to be routed anywhere in the world without purchasing additional e-mail software.
 "Intelligent electronic forms are the next significant set of tools to become available that will allow companies to use messaging to achieve greater value and efficiency in their day-to-day operations," said George Cunningham, vice president of business development and planning at AT&T EasyLink Services.
 Liberty Designer/Filler also addresses businesses wishing to start the forms automation process by automating paper forms design and ordering. Liberty Designer/Filler at its basic level, allows corporate forms management departments to design forms and distribute them electronically for printing. "For paper that will remain, automating the process of ordering and production can significantly decrease our customer's costs," said Mark Quinlan, director of product management, NCR Business Forms Division.
 In combination with NCR ProcessIT, the newly released process management and workflow product, NCR Liberty provides a unique solution, combining advanced form management with industrial strength process management. ProcessIT is a database-based intelligent routing engine designed to handle complex form-based procedures, as well as image- enabled, and non-image related processes. It is made up of an advanced set of routing and management tools to assist users in designing, implementing and managing the process flow of forms which can be designed using the Liberty toolset. In addition, ProcessIT supports the routing and managing of text, graphics, images, voice and video. The integrated NCR ProcessIT and Liberty products provide a full-function, robust solution for complex forms routing requirements.
 As a part of the Liberty product offering, NCR offers electronic forms consulting to their customers. "NCR's electronic forms engineering/consulting services help bring each of the required technologies together to achieve our customer's objectives," said Randy Popson, manager, NCR Electronic Forms Group.
 Through the collective efforts of NCR, AT&T EasyLink Services and Delrina Corporation, we are able to deliver an unmatched, single-source solution that benefits businesses and customers alike," said Mark Skapinker, president of Delrina Corporation.
