The 49ers battled from a 2-1 deficit in the match to force a decisive fifth game against IPFW IPFW Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (Fort Wayne, IN, USA) IPFW Internet Protocol Firewall , the tallest and most athletic squad in the tournament with the most talented group of jump servers. But the Mastodons (23-4) suffered in the fifth game, when points are scored on every serve, regardless of the team serving, so IPFW curtailed its serving. The Mastodons had 23 service errors heading into the final game but was errorless in Game 5. The 49ers, who looked as if they were whipped after losing the third game, took the Mastodons by surprise in the fourth game, and had momentum on their side by Game 5. |
