Andrews was still in a daze after his win on Thursday. The junior missed the 2006 season after surgery on his left knee.

Thursday's competition was the first time the 2007 Big West champion had qualified out of the preliminaries after competing in the 2004 and 2005 NCAA meets.

In Wednesday's qualifying and in the Pac-10 Championships, Watkins had to compete in both events simultaneously, going back and forth between events. In the conference meet, Watkins had to take an attempt in the long jump in her high jump spikes because she did not have time to change her shoes.

"It was a relief only having to do one (event), especially in a final," Watkins said. "I didn't have to worry about running to another event so that helped me stay focused."
