NCAA TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS: LOCAL TEAMS ADVANCE.

 set up a quarterfinal showdown at the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships with victories Saturday at Stanford University's Taube Tennis Center The Taube Tennis Center is a tennis facility located on the campus of Stanford University near Palo Alto, California. In addition to hosting the Stanford Cardinal's men's and women's tennis teams, the 17-court facility is the home of the Bank of the West Classic, a WTA Tour event. .

USC's women advanced to the semifinals earlier Saturday, completing a 4-3 victory over Northwestern at the San Francisco Tennis Club, a match that ended after midnight.

The second-seeded Waves, who dominated Florida 4-0, will meet No.10 UCLA, and USC's third-ranked women will take on No. 7 Miami today .

UCLA, the defending national champion, topped Illinois 4-2 by sweeping the doubles sets and gaining singles victories from top-ranked Ben Kohlloeffel, Philipp Gruendler and Chris Surapol.

Kohloeffel beat No. 11 Ryler DeHeart 6-4, 7-6 (5) in the showcase match.

Pepperdine won all three doubles matches and received singles sweeps from Pedro Rico, Ivor Lovrak and Omar Altmann.

The UCLA-Pepperdine winner will face Ohio State or Texas in the semifinals. The title match is Tuesday.
