NBC UNIVERSAL PROMOTES EXECS.

In a move designed to maximize new technologies and expand its international market, NBC Universal NBC Universal is a media and entertainment company formed in May 2004 by the combination of General Electric's NBC with Vivendi Universal Entertainment (part of the French Media Group, Vivendi SA). GE owns 80% of NBC Universal with the remaining 20% owned by Vivendi SA.  on Monday promoted two of its executives to new positions with expanded responsibilities.

Frederick Huntsberry assumes the title of president of NBC Universal International while David Zaslav becomes president of NBC Universal Cable NBC Universal Cable is a division of NBC Universal that oversees the following cable television networks.

  • Mun2
  • NBC Weather Plus
  • Sci-Fi Channel
  • ShopNBC
  • Sleuth
  • Telemundo
 and Domestic TV and New Media Distribution.

Huntsberry will report to NBC Universal Chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Bob Wright in a role that will require him to provide strategic direction for the company in the area of international new business development.

``We are operating in a media landscape that knows no boundaries and offers ever-increasing entertainment choices to consumers both from content and technology perspective,'' Huntsberry said. ``NBC Universal is uniquely positioned to play a broader role on a global basis.''

Zaslav's current job as president of NBC-Universal Cable expands to include the responsibility for the operations of the company's domestic television distribution division, which is responsible for such first-run syndicated shows as ``Access Hollywood Access Hollywood is a weekday television entertainment news program covering events and celebrities in the entertainment industry. It was created by former Entertainment Tonight ,'' ``Blind Date'' and ``The Jerry Springer springer

a North American term commonly used to describe heifers close to term with their first calf.
 Show.''

Zaslav will focus on how and when current television shows as well as library titles should be released over various platforms such as wireless handheld devices and the Internet and in the pay, free and basic markets as well as first-run syndication.

 Universal's content,'' Zaslav said. ``This new structure will further streamline how our content is distributed across all platforms.''

Wright called Huntsberry and Zaslav ``experienced and talented executives who are adept at identifying smart, strategic opportunities for NBC Universal, both domestically and abroad.''
