NBC's return to the 1960s for a miniseries and to the 1980s for a mini ``Cheers'' reunion helped the network to a comfortable ratings victory during the first week of the important February sweeps period.

Part one of NBC's music-packed miniseries, ``The '60's,'' was a hit on Sunday despite a tepid critical reaction. Its audience of 15 million viewers was bigger than any other program outside of NBC's Thursday night schedule, Nielsen Media Research said Tuesday.

``Frasier,'' the week's second-most-watched show, drew higher ratings than normal Thursday night with actor Woody Harrelson reprising his ``Cheers'' role.

``ER'' was the week's most popular show, as is customary, in its countdown to George Clooney's departure.

In what's becoming a tradition in one of the four sweeps months when ratings are watched closely to set local advertising rates, Fox drew solid numbers with dramatic nonfiction programming. Thursday's duo of specials included ``World's Most Shocking Most Shocking is a reality television show produced by Nash Entertainment and Court TV Original Productions. It generally features a video of criminal behavior, police pursuits, robberies, and shootouts.  Moments'' and a daredevil jump by Robbie Knievel Robert Edward "Kaptain" Knievel (born May 7, 1962 in Butte, Montana) is the third of four children of famous stuntman Evel Knievel and his first wife Linda.
