NBC 5/KXAS-TV Announces New Weekend Anchor Michael Scott.DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 6, 1999-- NBC NBC in full National Broadcasting Co. Major U.S. commercial broadcasting company. It was formed in 1926 by RCA Corp., General Electric Co. (GE), and Westinghouse and was the first U.S. company to operate a broadcast network. 5 President and General Manager Stephen Doerr announced today that Michael Scott has joined the station as weekend co-anchor. Scott will be teamed with Gretchen Carlson, on Saturday's NBC 5 at 6 PM and NBC 5 at 10 PM and on Sunday's NBC 5 Weekend Report at 5 PM and NBC 5 at 10 PM. "We're excited to have someone with Michael Scott's level of experience join the NBC 5 team. He is a vital part of our plans to continue our leadership position in the Dallas/Fort Worth market," said NBC 5 Vice President of News Kimberly Godwin. Scott most recently anchored the 5 PM, 6 PM and 10 PM news at the CBS affiliate, KMTV, in Omaha, Neb. He left the anchor desk to run for the U. S. House of Representatives in 1998. Prior to his work in Omaha, Scott was the weekend anchor at KCBS KCBS Kansas City Barbecue Society KCBS Korea Christian Book Service (now called KCB; Seoul, Korea) KCBS Kerala Catholic Bible Society (Kerala, India) in Los Angeles. He was also an anchor and correspondent for Entertainment Tonight, the nationally syndicated entertainment news program. Scott has also reported and anchored at KETV KETV Kentucky Educational Television in Omaha, KMGH in Denver, and at KVOA in Tucson, Ariz. where he was also the Weekend Sportscaster. Michael Scott is a longtime member of the National Association of Black Journalists The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), was founded in 1975 by 44 men and women in Washington, D.C. Headquartered at the University of Maryland, College Park and with 3300 members, it is the largest organization of journalists of color in the nation. . He has received numerous honors and awards, including "Volunteer of the Year" for Big Brothers and Sisters of the Midlands in Nebraska.
