NAZI CAR BAN; EXCLUSIVE Cop's sinister plate scrapped.

Byline: By RUSSELL FINDLAY

A CAR number plate which spells the name of Hitler's Nazi party is being taken out of circulation - thanks to the Sunday Mail.

We revealed last month how a police chief inspector bragged about owning the plate on his website - six years after telling bosses he had binned it.

Fife Constabulary forced Robert Lumsden, 49, to stop using N5 DAP - the initials of the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei - after we exposed him.

MSP Michael Matheson demanded the DVLA recall the plate after our story four weeks ago. He said last night: They now recognise this plate should never have been issued."

DVLA vehicle policy group manager Lynette Rose said: "We missed the significance of this registration mark. We have decided to withdraw it."

Lumsden said: "I've got nothing to say. Like any law-abiding person, I'll abide by any decision made."
