NATURAL GAS USERS GET REFUND

 NATURAL GAS USERS GET REFUND
ATLANTA, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning today Atlanta Gas Light

Company (NYSE: ATG) will refund $20 million to sales customers as a credit on September bills.
Refunds will average $11.31 to residential customers.
The money to be refunded has resulted from the purchase of lower- cost gas on the spot market by Atlanta Gas Light Company. Refunds will be credited on customers' bills in September according to a plan approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission.
Customers who received sales service from Atlanta Gas Light Company, Georgia Natural Gas Company, and Savannah Gas Company between February 1992 and May 1992 will be eligible for a refund. The exact amount of each residential customer's refund will be based on the amount of natural gas used from February through May 1992. Customers who received service during those months, but are no longer customers, are also due a refund and should contact the gas company to provide a forwarding address and billing information. Refunds to commercial and industrial sales customers generally will be larger because their usage of natural gas is greater.
"Our company consistently seeks lower-cost gas supplies on the spot market," said Charles W. Bass, senior vice president for Atlanta Gas Light Company. "This refund is largely the result of that effort."
Atlanta Gas Light Company is the largest distributor of natural gas in the
Southeast, serving 1.2 million customers in 227 Georgia communities. In some areas of the state, it serves under the trade name Georgia Natural Gas Company, and it serves the Savannah area as Savannah Gas Company.
