NATURAL CHILD CARE COMPANY INITIAL SALES OFF TO A SOLID START
ARMONK, N.Y., Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Natural Child Care, Inc. (NASDAQ: NACC 1-1/4, NACCU 5-5/8) announced today that initial sales of its natural children's health care products had reached $218,000 (unaudited) through July 31. The company also reported an increasing level of retailer and consumer interest for its product line nationally.
During this period, the company successfully established a national sales network through the appointment of commissioned sales agents in both the health and beauty care sector and through the health food trade.
The company has received purchase orders and verbal authorizations from key national and regional drug and mass merchant chains such as Walgreens, the nation's largest drug chain (2,200 stores), Venture, Pay N Save/Payless, Fred Meyer, Drug Emporium and even AAFES (the buying arm for the U.S. military, internationally). A number of smaller chains have also made firm order commitments, including Pathmark, Shoprite, RX Place, Austin Drugs and Genovese in the New York metropolitan area.
Mckesson, Bergen Brunswig & FoxMeyer's, three of the largest national drug distributors are presently selling the company's products. Tree of Life, Cornucopia & Stow Mills, three of the country's largest health food distributors, are carrying the Natural Child Care line. The products have been well-received among health food retailers. General Nutrition Centers (GNC), the nation's largest health food retailer, is presently test marketing the company's products. The company's products are now being distributed through approximately 800 health food stores, nationally.
Several national direct mail catalog houses are presently reviewing the company's products for representation. To date, the company is being sold by four niche-oriented direct mail catalogs. There have been numerous repeat orders, and the company is working to develop a strong direct mail franchise with a number of its products.
The company further reported that 800 number inquiries requesting information on local retail outlets that carry its products have risen dramatically in the last month. Inquiries totaled nearly 1,000 for the month of July, up from approximately 200 in June.
Additionally, interest in the company's products for the export market has been very strong, which it hopes to develop during the fall of 1992.
According to company CEO Mitchell Deutsch, "Initial reaction from both retailers and consumers has been very encouraging. There is a clear indication from both retail buyers and from initial consumer purchases of our products that we are in the right place at the right time. These early developments make us optimistic on the long-term prospects for the company."
Natural Child Care Company is a developer and marketer of a complete line of infant and children's health care products under the Natural Child Care name, that are less harsh and more natural, as compared to most leading national brands.
