NATIONSBANK WORLD LEADER IN GAS AND OIL LOANS FOR 1991, PETROLEUM ECONOMIST REPORTS

NATIONSBANK WORLD LEADER IN GAS AND OIL LOANS FOR 1991,
 PETROLEUM ECONOMIST REPORTS
DALLAS, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- NationsBank made more oil and gas loans last year than any other bank in the world, according to research published in the March issue of Petroleum Economist, an international energy journal.
"Our performance indicates the energy industry's confidence in our ability and capacity to arrange large transactions," said Samuel J. Atkins III, group executive vice president of the NationsBank Energy Group.
For the second year in a row, NationsBank ranked as the number one "provider" of new oil and gas loans -- both in number and amount committed. The bank made more than $2.4 billion worth of oil and gas loans. In addition, NationsBank "arranged" the greatest number of oil and gas loans in 1991 (44), according to the Petroleum Economist league tables.
Banks are credited as a "provider" when they book new or increased commitments. Loan "arrangers" are credited with the amount of large transactions they underwrite and syndicate.
Headquartered in Dallas, the NationsBank Energy Group has provided financial services for more than 60 years. The bank maintains one of the largest in-house groups of petroleum engineers and energy lenders in the industry, housed in six domestic and international offices.
NationsBank is the country's fourth-largest bank holding company with $110 billion in assets and full-service banking offices in nine states and the District of Columbia.
