NATIONSBANK SIGNS WON'T REPLACE NCNB AND C&S SIGNS IN FLORIDA UNTIL FALL
TAMPA, Fla., July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- NationsBank (NYSE: NB) signs won't replace the NCNB and C&S signs in Florida until the fall; however, NationsBank is open for business in Room 203 of a local hotel, as the official bank sponsor of the 1992 Olympic Team.
At 10 a.m. yesterday, NationsBank tellers began making banking transactions for the United States' Olympic athletes, who have descended on Tampa, the last stop before the 1992 Games in Barcelona.
Located on the second floor of the hotel, the NationsBank banking center will convert dollars to pesetas, issue travelers checks and cash advances Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., July 6-22.
"This is a great opportunity to support our Olympic athletes in Barcelona and tie the NationsBank name to the Olympics through 1996," said Gene Taylor, president of NationsBank Florida. "Our association with the 1992 Olympic Team and the 1996 Olympic Games will help inject our employees with the pride, work ethic and diligence associated with U.S. Olympic athletes."
"Also, NationsBank signs will start appearing in Florida over the Labor Day weekend, marking the beginning of the final phase of transition from NCNB and C&S," Taylor said.
NationsBank previously was named the first corporate partner for the 1996 Atlanta Centennial Olympic Games, making NationsBank the official bank partner of the 1996 Summer Olympic Games and the 1994 Winter Games in Lillehammer, Norway.
As an official sponsor of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Team, NationsBank is one of a select group of corporations permitted to use the USA Olympic Rings logo in advertising and promotions.
NationsBank is the fourth largest U.S. banking company with assets of $113 billion and more than 1,800 banking offices in nine states and the District of Columbia.
