NATIONSBANK ANNOUNCES KEY PROMOTIONS AND REALIGNMENT OF EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

 CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Hugh L. McColl, chairman and chief executive officer of NationsBank Corporation (NYSE: NB), announced today several key promotions and realignment of executive management responsibilities.
 Kenneth D. Lewis has been promoted to president of NationsBank Corporation and given additional responsibilities for the Trust and Private Banking businesses, which are managed by Hugh Chapman. Lewis will retain all of his current responsibilities and will relocate to Charlotte in the near future. Chapman, chairman of NationsBank South, will assume the additional responsibility for the corpora'?s regulatory and governmental affairs in Washington, D.C., although he will remain located in Atlanta as NationsBank senior corporate official there.
 James H. Hance has been promoted to vice chairman of NationsBank Corporation. He will assume direct responsibility for most of NationsBanc Services Company and for the new subsidiaries of the corporation, NationsCredit and Nations Financial Capital Corporation. He will continue as chief financial officer with responsibilities for several key support units.
 James W. Thompson also has been named vice chairman of NationsBank Corporation and will continue his responsibilities as chairman of NationsBank East. He has direct responsibility for the Institutional Group, which was restructured and announced recently, and will assume responsibilities for Corporate Properties and other administrative functions previously in the Services Company.
 Fredric J. Figge has been named chairman of Corporate Risk Policy and will continue as a member of the executive management group. He will have broad corporatewide oversight responsibility for global risk management and will remain as chairman of the Credit Policy Committee.
