NATIONSBANK ANNOUNCES ITS MUTUAL FUNDS GROUP EXCEEDS $10 BILLION IN ASSETS

 CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- NationsBank (NYSE: NB) announced that its Nations Fund family of mutual funds has exceeded $10 billion in assets, making it one of the fastest-growing fund groups in the country.
 Nations Fund assets have increased by 100 percent each year for the past three years. In that same period, total industry assets grew by an annual average of 18 percent, according to figures from the Investment Company Institute. Nations Fund is the largest bank-affiliated mutual fund group in the country, excluding bank-affiliated money market funds.
 The group, which includes 28 portfolios, is designed to meet the investment objectives a wide variety of investors.
 "The expansion of Nations Fund is consistent with the way NationsBank manages money, which is with distinct investment styles geared for long-term results," said Mark Williamson, Mutual Fund Group executive at NationsBank. "The growth of the portfolios reflects our commitment to meet customers' ongoing needs, instead of simply responding to short-term investment fads."
 Nations Fund is available through several distribution channels, including NationsBank Personal Trust, Institutional Trust and retail and broker/dealer channels. It also will be sold through Nations Securities, a new brokerage firm created through a joint venture of NationsBank and Dean Witter.
 Nations Securities opened its first offices on June 7 and is on schedule to meet its first-year goals. Nations Securities is a strategic alliance to market investment products and services primarily to bank customers within a bank environment.
 Nations Fund consists of: five equity funds, one balanced fund, eight taxable fixed-income funds, one long-term national municipal bond fund, one intermediate national municipal bond fund, eight intermediate state specific municipal bond funds and four money market funds.
 NationsBank is the fifth-largest banking company in the United States with more than $121 billion in assets and full-service banking centers in nine states and the District of Columbia.
