NATIONSBANK AD CAMPAIGN PREMIERED IN ABBEVILLE, S.C.

 CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The pageantry of Abbeville, South Carolina's annual Spring Festival is but one of the scenes that will come to life for hometown crowds during the September 8 advance screening of a new NationsBank (NYSE: NB) advertising campaign. Abbeville is one of four cities featured in a series of television commercials launched by NationsBank as part of a major advertising campaign.
 Advance screenings of the Abbeville spots will be held Wednesday, September 8 at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 pm at the Abbeville Opera House for the town's 7,000 residents. "This is our way of thanking the people of Abbeville for their participation in producing the commercials," said Senior Vice President, Advertising Management, David Carter. "This gives us the opportunity to show the participants and their families all the footage shot for the commercial."
 NationsBank initiated the ad campaign to raise customer awareness and heighten the visibility of the NationsBank name. "We want NationsBank to be the household word in banking," said Marketing Executive Amy Brinkley. "We have the resources to make a difference in the lives of millions and to demonstrate how we care for the communities we serve."
 The dominant theme is that NationsBank, by virtue of its presence, makes all the communities it serves financial centers. "The Financial Centers campaign has the flexibility to focus on small, mid-size and large communities," said Advertising/Promotion Director Grant O'Neal. The Abbeville commercial highlights the Abbeville High School Panthers, the annual Spring Festival and NationsBank customer Canfield Dairy.
 The campaign consists of four commercials filmed in Sarasota, FL, Annapolis, MD and Fort Worth, TX, in addition to Abbeville. The cities were chosen for their distinct character and ability to demonstrate the diversity of the bank's customers. All commercials utilize local banking employees and customers to tell the NationsBank story.
 After the initial four commercials, additional communities will be added from across the bank's franchise. The spots will be seen during top-rated programming and sporting events. Outdoor billboards, showing a NationsBank sign and the name of the community, will support the television commercials. The commercials were created by the bank's advertising agency, Temerlin McClain of Dallas, and are narrated by actor James Coburn.
