NATIONAL TEAM EXCELLENCE AWARD FINALISTS ANNOUNCED

CINCINNATI, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award has become the standard for organizational excellence in American corporations. In much the same way, the National Team Excellence Award has become the standard for teams. The National Team Excellence Award, given by the non-profit Association for Quality and Participation (AQP), recognizes the outstanding efforts of teams in solving a particular problem within an organization.
This year's 18 National Team Excellence Award finalists, who have successfully demonstrated how to improve quality through employee participation, come from a wide variety of organizations including a textile manufacturing plant, an oil refinery, and a brewing company. With team names like "Solutions-R-Us" and "The Robot Police," these employee groups represent the best in teamwork. By pulling together, they found solutions. One team reduced the high rate of accidents at a textile plant and another eliminated a toxic solvent from the manufacturing process at a telecommunications facility.
The 18 finalists will make presentations at AQP's 15th Annual Spring Conference and Resource Mart in New Orleans, May 3-6. From the 18 finalists, gold, silver, and bronze National Team Excellence Award recipients will be chosen. AQP's Spring Conference is the largest gathering of employee involvement practitioners in the world. AQP also is a co-sponsor of the Quest For Excellence V Conference, Feb. 15-17, in Washington, D.C., at which the Baldridge Award winners are recognized.
