 NATIONAL SPINNING COMPANY ELECTS OUTSIDE DIRECTORS
 NEW YORK, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time since it


returned to private ownership in 1981, National Spinning Company, Inc., the nation's largest acrylic yarn manufacturer, has elected outside directors. Named to the Board of Directors were Jack E. Sonnenblick, Chairman of Sonnenblick-Goldman Company, and Julius Lasnick, Executive Vice President of Springs Industries, Inc.
 In making the announcement, Joseph Leff, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of National Spinning Company, said, "We are pleased these outstanding business leaders in finance and textiles have joined our Board. They bring diversity in outlook. Their experience will help our Company better prepare for the challenges of the 21st century."
 Other directors include family members and officers of the Company.
 Mr. Sonnenblick formed the mortgage banking firm Sonnenblick-Goldman Company in 1946. The New York-based firm currently places more than $3 billion of large commercial mortgages annually. He is a former Trustee of the New York Bank for Savings, and was the original Managing Trustee of North American Mortgage Investors, a publicly held R.E.I.T.
 Mr. Sonnenblick was the 1971-72 president of the National Association of Real Estate Investments Trusts and held several leadership positions with the New York Real Estate Board. He is a founder of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Horace Mann-Barnard School.
 Mr. Lasnick has more than 40 years experience in the textile industry and has been Executive Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors of Springs Industries since 1986. Prior to that he was President and a member of the Board of Directors of M. Lowenstein Corporation, a company acquired by Springs Industries. Prior to joining M. Lowenstein, Mr. Lasnick held management positions with Milliken & Company. He is a resident of Stamford, Connecticut.
 National Spinning Co., Inc. is a closely held corporation, founded more than 70 years ago. It is the nation's largest spinner and dyer of acrylic yarns. In addition to acrylic, the Company also produces polyester blends, viscose rayon, wool and wool blend yarns for the sweater, fabric, hosiery, and craft markets. Headquartered in New York City, National Spinning Company's manufacturing facilities are located in eastern North Carolina.
