 ELECTS JON L. GORNEY TO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT
 CLEVELAND, Dec. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of National City Corporation (NYSE: NCC) has elected Jon L. Gorney senior vice president, information services and operations of the $24 billion financial services holding company.
 Gorney, 41, who most recently served as director of corporate operations, will oversee the Corporation's information services and operations function. His predecessor, Harold B. Todd, Jr., executive vice president, information services and operations, recently assumed the position of chairman of Vision, National City's cost redesign program over the next 18 to 24 months.
 "Mr. Gorney will play an integral role in the integration of Merchants National Corporation into National City," stated Todd. His valuable experience, coupled with his participation as a member of a newly-formed NCC-Merchants Integration Steering committee, will help to ensure a smooth and swift process."
 Gorney joined National City Bank, Cleveland in 1973. He began his career as a management development trainee and was appointed systems officer in 1977. Gorney was promoted to vice president in 1981. In 1988, he was promoted to senior vice president of National City Bank and director of central information systems of National City Corporation.
 A 1973 graduate of the University of Dayton, Gorney holds a B.S. degree in computer science. He is a member of the American Institute of Banking and the Bank Administration Institute.
 Gorney, his wife Nancy, and their three children live in Elyria, Ohio.
