NATIONAL CITY BANK NAMES MARK W. BUXTON
 "OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR"
CLEVELAND, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- National City Bank is proud to announce that Mark W. Buxton, trust officer, has received its annual Outstanding Volunteer award. Mark has been a dedicated volunteer for over three years with the Cathedral Square Meals program.
Every Thursday, Mark is busy serving the noon meal to the homeless at the Cathedral Square Meals in the basement of St. John's Cathedral. On Saturdays, he is busy preparing hot lunches and helps to clean up the facility after the meal.
But, it doesn't stop there. Mark takes his volunteer work one step further. He reaches out to others, encouraging people to find employment, counseling the homeless...going that extra mile. Mark also goes out to area high schools and groups to talk about the Cathedral Square Meals program. Increasing community awareness of the needs of the hungry and homeless is a high priority of his.
A native of Burgettstown, Pa., Mark began his career as a management trainee at National City Bank in 1988 after receiving his MBA degree from Kent State University, and is currently attending Cleveland Marshall College of Law. Assigned to the trust department, Mark became acquainted with a fellow employee who had been an active volunteer with the Cathedral Square Meals program for many years. Buxton was inspired by his fellow employee's dedication to the program and began to volunteer his own time and talents.
As in the past, National City Bank will present a $500 check as a donation to the organization of the winning volunteer. In light of the tremendous dedication on the part of National City employees to the Harvest for Hunger Campaign, it is especially meaningful that the $500 will help to feed the hungry in the Cleveland area.
Volunteerism is encouraged at National City Bank; the Bank recognizes the importance of employee involvement in local community service and action organizations. For over a decade, National City has chosen an "outstanding volunteer," adding the winner's name to a plaque displayed in its employee cafeteria.
National City Bank is the lead bank of National City Corporation (NYSE: NCC), a $24 billion diversified financial services company headquartered in Cleveland.
