NATIONAL CITY BANK DONATES TWO PROPERTIES TO
 NEAR WEST HOUSING CORPORATION
CLEVELAND, Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- National City Bank has given the Near West Housing Corporation something to smile about. National City Bank has turned over two properties on the city's west side to the Near West Housing Corporation for rehabilitation.
One of the properties, located on West 52nd Street, was condemned and on the city's demolition list. Near West Housing plans to save this structure and turn it into affordable, quality housing for a low-income family.
The other property is a few blocks away on West 47th Street. "This particular home is in poor condition and requires over $30,000 for us to rehabilitate the structure. In order to make this a viable project, we asked National City if it would donate the property," explained Chuck Ackerman, executive director, Near West Housing Corporation.
"We are pleased that we were able to accommodate Near West Housing Corporation's request," said David A. Daberko, chairman and CEO, National City Bank. "The Bank continues to support neighborhood revitalization--and by giving these homes to Near West Housing to be rehabilitated, we are able to help change the face of the neighborhood in a small, but meaningful fashion."
National City Community Development Corporation (NCCDC) has been involved with Near West Housing Corporation in the $2.4 million Franklin Green town house project in Ohio City. NCCDC is an equity partner in the project, having invested $105,000.
Formed in 1982, NCCDC is a subsidiary of National City Corporation. Working closely with local businesses and small community groups, NCCDC has been involved in $73 million of neighborhood revitalization projects in the neighborhoods of Cleveland.
National City Bank is the lead bank of National City Corporation (NYSE: NCC), a $29 billion diversified financial services company headquartered in Cleveland.
