NASCAR SENDS OUT REVISED S.W. SERIES SCHEDULE.

NASCAR NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing), organization that sanctions American stock-car races, est. 1948. It held its first race in Daytona Beach, Fla.  released a revised Elite Division Southwest Series schedule with eight races at seven tracks.

The NASCAR Southwest Series opened at Phoenix International Raceway Phoenix International Raceway, or just PIR, is a one mile tri-oval race track located in Avondale, Arizona. It opened in 1964, as the new home of major open-wheel racing in the Phoenix area, replacing the track at the Arizona State Fairgrounds as an automobile racing venue.  with Matt Crafton winning the Copper World Classic on Jan. 22.

The next race will be at Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, Calif., on May 13. NASCAR announced in December that this year will be the last year of Elite Division competition.

There are four Elite Divisions, split up nationally by geographic region.

Locally, M.K. Kanke of Frazier Park, Bob Lyon of Agua Dulce and Greg Pursley of Canyon Country race regularly on the Southwest Series.

Kanke is the series money leader, has won the most career poles and is second on the career victories list.

The Southwest Series makes one visit to Irwindale Speedway on June 17. The season ends Nov. 9 at Phoenix International Raceway.

There will be two races that will be combined events with the NASCAR Elite Division, Midwest Series: the June 3 and Aug. 19 races at Colorado National Speedway in Erie, Colo.

Crafton, a regular on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and Ken Schrader, a NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver, finished 1-2 in the Southwest Series season opener.

--Off-road racing: The California City Supercourse Desert Gran Prix Series announced a six-race schedule for 2006. The series will start Feb. 18 on a 14.8-mile course in California City.

The series is AMA-sanctioned and open to motorcycle and ATV riders with active AMA (Automatic Message Accounting) The recording and reporting of telephone calls within a telephone system. It includes the calling and called parties and start and stop times of the call.  memberships.

The season is scheduled to end Dec. 16.

--NASCAR Busch Series: Ron Hornaday Jr. will drive a limited number of NASCAR Busch Series races for Kevin Harvick Inc. in 2006.

Hornaday will make his first Busch Series start for KHI on March 25 at Bristol Motor Speedway Bristol Motor Speedway, originally known as Bristol International Raceway and Bristol Raceway is a NASCAR short track located in Bristol, Tennessee. It was constructed in 1960, and held its first NASCAR race on July 30, 1961.  in Tennessee.

``I have worked for Dale Earnhardt, I have worked for Richard Childress Racing RCR Enterprises, LLC, doing business as Richard Childress Racing, is a NASCAR team fielding Chevrolets for Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton, and Scott Wimmer in the NEXTEL Cup Series as well as the #2 BB&T Chevy for Clint Bowyer, the #21 AutoZone Chevy for Harvick  and Kevin has applied a little bit of all of it,'' said Hornaday, a former Saugus Speedway champ from Palmdale, on the team's Web site. ``As fast as Kevin has grown his organization in the last couple of years, he will be a premier team in our business.''

Stewart, the 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, will start the season for KHI on Feb. 18 at Daytona International Speedway Daytona International Speedway is a superspeedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. It is a 2.5 mile (4 km) tri-oval race track facility with a seating capacity of 168,000 spectators. .

Harvick will be in the No. 33 Chevy for the Busch Series race at California Speedway on Feb. 25.

Hornaday is tabbed to do 14 races in the Busch Series for KHI. He is also running the full NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for KHI in the No. 33 Chevrolet Silverado.
