NASA Recognizes Plateau for Outstanding Contributions to Successful Launch of Agency-wide Learning Management System.

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Plateau Honored with Multiple NASA SATERN Awards for Demonstrating Innovative, Out-of-the-Box Thinking, Commitment to Teamwork and Dedication to Overall Success of Agency's e-Training Initiative

Plateau Systems, a leading provider of software for developing, managing and optimizing organizational talent, today announced the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has awarded Plateau the NASA SATERN Firm Award for its contributions to the recently launched SATERN project. Scott Hardy, a senior project manager in Plateau's Global Services organization received the NASA SATERN VIP Award on behalf of Plateau for his individual contributions to the project. SATERN, the System for Administration, Training, and Educational Resources for NASA, is an agency-wide e-Training effort recently launched by NASA in support of the President's Management Agenda (PMA) for improving the government's responsiveness to citizens and efficiency of operations.

NASA's SATERN Awards honor companies and individuals that have made significant contributions to the success of the SATERN project. Plateau received the NASA SATERN Firm Award for the company's dedication to making the SATERN implementation a success. The NASA SATERN VIP Award received by Hardy honors significant individual contributions that go above and beyond job performance requirements. Honorees have met and exceeded project milestones while fostering a sense of teamwork, actively participated in the contribution of new ideas, embraced and managed change during the project, and fostered cross-agency collaboration.

In 2005, NASA selected and deployed Plateau's learning management software to enable 57,700 employees and contractors throughout the agency to administer and track training. The system, formally launched in May 2006, provides all NASA employees with easy-to-use, one-stop, online access to training information and enables employees to view course offerings directly from their desktops, enroll in courses, schedule training, and view their individual training history. In addition to providing the NASA workforce with Web-based access to training and career development resources, SATERN enables supervisors to access employee training history records, training calendars, current registrations, the status of external training requests as well as a variety of custom reports required by the agency.

Selecting Plateau's comprehensive learning management system has enabled NASA to retire three home-grown systems: NORS for online registration, AdminSTAR for learning administration, and SOLAR for course content delivery. By replacing these systems and consolidating learning data in Plateau's single system, NASA has significantly increased efficiencies Now, with Plateau's solutions, all NASA personnel - from supervisors and training coordinators to employees and contractors - can register, receive, track and evaluate learning and learning content, test learners and report on learner progress, provide management with reports, and receive course content from a variety of sources, all from a single system and single user sign-on.

In the next phase of the project, NASA will use Plateau for competency management and to create individual development plans that identify and address performance gaps. NASA employees and contractors will be able to launch learning courses and other content from directly within their individual development plans. Using Plateau, NASA supervisors will also be able to determine the impact of learning on operational performance.
