NASA HIGHLIGHTS VECTOR W8 SUPERCAR AT TECHNOLOGY 2001 EXHIBITION

NASA HIGHLIGHTS VECTOR W8 SUPERCAR AT TECHNOLOGY 2001 EXHIBITION
NEW YORK, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Successfully transferring aerospace technology to the automotive industry, the U.S. built and certified VECTOR W8 Twin-Turbo Supercar today received high acclaim from exhibitors and show attendees alike at the opening of the prestigious Technology 2001 Exhibition and Conference in San Jose, Calif.
The VECTOR W8 was singled out by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Administrator Richard Truly as one of the key exhibits. The VECTOR W8 appeared on the cover of the November issue of NASA Tech Briefs magazine, which referred to the hand-built supercar as a "remarkable offspring" from the marriage of aerospace and automotive technology.
Commented, Joe Pramberger, show manager and editor of NASA Tech Briefs: "The VECTOR is a prime example of a successful aerospace 'Spin-off'; the adaption of federal technology by an American company to create an innovative new product with tremendous commercial potential." "The VECTOR is the automotive equivalent of the F-117A Stealth Fighter," said Gerald A. Wiegert, president of Vector Aeromotive Corp. (NASDAQ: VCAR). Wiegert continued, "We have had a tremendously positive response to our use of advanced technology from the nation's top technological experts. Most have read or heard of the VECTOR W8 but have not witnessed the meticulous attention to detail, advanced materials, technology, spacecraft-like instrumentation and construction we incorporate into each vehicle. If you took the wheels off the VECTOR and hung it from the ceiling, you would think it was a futuristic flight design."
C & N will feature the VECTOR W8 and other exhibits on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The VECTOR W8 is America's only Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certified supercar. The $398,000 all-American VECTOR W8 Twin- Turbo has received confirmed independent performance test rating the VECTOR as having zero to 60 mph capability at 3.7 seconds, and a quarter-mile time of 12 seconds flat at 124 m.p.h. The VECTOR boasts a powerful six-liter V8 twin-turbo charged engine that delivers in excess of 600 horsepower. It is produced in Wilmington, Calif., and competes directly with Ferrari and Lamborghini.
Sponsored by NASA, Technology 2001 attracts America's premier laboratory researchers and technology managers, including top experts from NASA, the EPA, the National Science Foundation and the Departments of Commerce, Defense, Energy, Interior and Transportation.
The Technology 2001 Exhibition and Conference continues today through Thursday, Dec. 5, at the San Jose Convention Center.
