NAMA leader gets what he gives. For Ken Dean, marketing consultant for the High Plains Journal, developing new advertisers while maintaining current levels of existing advertisers is his biggest challenge. "For agri-marketers today, the piece of the proverbial pie might be the same, but the pie isn't nearly as plump as it was," says Dean. In his current position with High Plains Journal, he works with clients and prospects in the NW Missouri and NE Kansas area on advertising and marketing. Dean is a NAMA regional director for Region 2, which includes the Gateway, Great Plains, Midlands, Missouri-Kansas, Rocky Mountain and Southwest Chapters. He is also currently serving as president of the Mo-Kan Chapter. He has been a NAMA member for 15 years and says his past NAMA positions include "everything." Dean says that every sales representative in his company was "encouraged" by former publisher Joe Berkeley to join and get involved with NAMA and he's glad he did. For Dean, NAMA is a "get what you give" proposition. "The value is derived from personal involvement. The more involved you become with NAMA, the greater the benefit."
