Awards were presented at the Best of NAMA Awards Ceremony in Kansas City Kansas City, two adjacent cities of the same name, one (1990 pop. 149,767), seat of Wyandotte co., NE Kansas (inc. 1859), the other (1990 pop. 435,146), Clay, Jackson, and Platte counties, NW Mo. (inc. 1850). . Below is listing of each award and the recipient. President's Award The President's Award may mean:
The President's award is presented each year to an individual who contributes in a significant way to the agenda of the national president. This year, President Mike Gustafson has chosen two individuals to receive this award. The first in recognition of the priority Gustafson has placed on strengthening chapters, and the second on his priority to expand NAMA's membership universe. Ken Dean, MoKan Chapter (High Plains Journal) Once again, a hard worker is being honored with a leadership award. Ken Dean served this past year as the MoKan Chapter president. Through his contagious enthusiasm, Dean involved many new leaders in the chapter and has held outstanding programs. He also serves as a regional director and has given counsel and help to neighboring chapter leaders. Stephanie Gable, Carolinas/Virginia Chapter (Bayer CropScience) Stephanie Gable is a member of the NAMA Executive Committee. Over this past year, the committee has spent long hours discussing the strategic direction of NAMA. Gable chaired a sub committee that is gathering vital information about what an agri-marketing professional needs from NAMA. Her leadership in arranging for the marketing research is recognized with this award. R.C. Ferguson Award Lynn Henderson, Gateway Chapter (Doane Ag Services) Lynn Henderson's career-long dedication and service to NAMA deserves recognition through this award. Having served in chapter and national leadership positions, including national president; Henderson continues to support NAMA programs and activities. After acquiring Agri Marketing magazine, he was instrumental in working to establish the magazine as NAMA's official publication. Workhorse of the Year Kyle Bauer, Great Plains Chapter (KFRM Radio) Kyle Bauer is another NAMA member wearing several leadership hats. When the Kansas State University Kansas State University, main campus at Manhattan; coeducational; land-grant and state supported; chartered and opened 1863. There is an additional campus at Salina. Among the university's research facilities are the J. R. student chapter needed an advisor, Bauer stepped up to help. He travels several hours just to be able to be with the students on campus and willingly shares his knowledge and experience. He also continues to serve as the chair of the AgriBroadcast Management Council. Outstanding Chair Carol Anderson, MoKan Chapter (Fleishman-Hillard) This past year, Carol served as the chair of the Agribusiness Forum Committee. Under Anderson's leadership, the committee decided to change the format of the Forum by holding an awards banquet and two half-day workshops the last morning. Every member of her committee had a significant assignment during the forum. Meritorious Achievement Susan Armstrong, Great Plains Chapter, (Armstrong Shank shank (shangk) 1. leg (1). 2. crus ( 2). shank n. The part of the human leg between the knee and ankle. ) Susan has been the chair of the Membership Committee which has directed the "Cultivating Connections" campaign. This campaign was recognized with a Best of NAMA national merit award; and more than that, has been a significant factor in holding NAMA's membership numbers in the weak market environment. John Finegan, NAMA Pacific Chapter (Beck Ag Com) John Finegan has been busy this year serving NAMA. After being a member of the 2003 Agri-Marketing Conference committee, he served this year as the vice chair of the Agribusiness Forum and moderated the much talked-about kick-off panel on the realities of today's business Today's Business is a show on CNBC that aired in the early morning, 5 to 7AM ET timeslot, hosted by Liz Claman and Bob Sellers, and it was replaced by Wake Up Call on Feb 4, 2002. environment. He also serves as a regional director. Vicki Henrickson, Cornbelt Chapter (McCormick Company) Vicki Henrickson is another hard worker who has served NAMA at the chapter and national level. She has been active with her local chapter board helping to provide local programs and member value. She is also chair of the Agri-Marketing Conference & Trade Show Committee.
