NAKED SOUL FALL VICTIM TO CARJACKING; PRICELESS GUITARS ARE STOLEN

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Scotti Bros. recording artist Naked Soul became another number in the growing statistics of today's hot crime -- carjacking. On Wednesday night, after a show in Fresno, Calif., lead singer/guitarist Mike Conley went to get gas for the van. Within seconds of getting out of the van to give his credit card to the attendant, two men jumped into the van and drove away with a sleeping Larry Pearson (drummer) in the back.
Pearson awoke from the reckless driving and surprised the two would-be carjackers. Unfortunately the surprise turned the other way and the drivers held Pearson at gunpoint, robbed him and jumped out of the van with the easily-carryable instruments.
Among the items taken from the trio include two vintage guitars: a tabacco sunburst 1957 Les Paul Jr.; and a red 1963 Les Paul Jr. with a black pick guard. Also stolen was one bass and Pearson's wedding ring. The drummer was married two weeks ago.
The band has canceled all tour dates and are currently battling their insurance company for compensation for the lost instruments. The local police have the serial numbers of the stolen guitars in case they are recovered.
The group's current single "Lonely Me Lonely You" is on more than 50 radio stations across the country including Los Angeles' 100.3 where the song is No. 18 on the station's playlist. The video for the single has been accepted to MTV and will be added to 120 Minutes very soon.
