NAIMA Appoints Bertram Environment and Sustainability Director.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- In the effort to promote the impact insulation can have in improving the environment, sustainability, and energy efficiency, the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) has named Paul Bertram Director, Environment and Sustainability.

"Paul comes to us as a well-respected expert in his field," says NAIMA President and CEO Ken Mentzer. "He'll be responsible for managing green and sustainable design strategies related to promoting the environmental advantages of fiberglass and mineral wool insulation."

Bertram will continue to work as a fellow of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), currently serving as vice president and editorial advisor for Construction Specifier Magazine. He initiated CSI's Sustainable Facilities Task Team and a business plan for what has evolved into CSI's GreenFormat[TM], a standardized way for manufacturers to report sustainable product attributes and for designers to specify them.

"I'm looking forward to this opportunity," Bertram said. "The insulation industry has a lot to offer in reducing overall greenhouse gas emissions."

Prior to joining NAIMA, Bertram was President/CEO of PRB Connect, a sustainable design consulting practice. Previously he founded PRB Design, a graphic design and information architecture design company. As a member of the Construction Writers Association, he is author of numerous articles on sustainable design and materials. He is a cum laude graduate of Northern Virginia Community College, an accredited professional with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), and a Construction Document Technologist with CSI. Bertram can be reached at NAIMA headquarters: 703.684.0084; pbertram@naima.org.

NAIMA is the trade association for North American manufacturers of fiberglass, rock wool, and slag wool insulation products. Its role is to promote energy efficiency and environmental preservation through the use of fiberglass, rock wool, and slag wool insulation, and to encourage the safe production and use of these materials.
