NAFB selects Gene Hemphill for Meritorious Service Award. (FYI News & Notes).Gene Hemphill, industry affairs manager for New Holland North America, received the 2002 Meritorious Service Award from the National Association of Farm Broadcasters, Platte Platte, river, c.310 mi (500 km) long, formed by the confluence of the North Platte (680 mi/1,090 km long) and South Platte (430 m/690 km) rivers at North Platte, Neb. It flows generally E across S Nebraska to join the Missouri River at Plattsmouth, Neb. The river is too flood-prone in spring and too shallow and braided the rest of the year for navigation. City, Mo. "Gene Hemphill has gone to great effort to assist farm broadcasters in covering newsworthy events across America for many years," says Mike Adams, host of "AgriTalk", who presented the award to Hemphill during NAFB NAFB - National Association of Farm Broadcasters NAFB - Nellis Air Force Base (Nevada) NAFB - Norton Air Force Base (California)'s annual convention. Hemphill's career began as a newspaper editor in Joliet Joliet (jō`lēĕt'), city (1990 pop. 76,836), seat of Will co., NE Ill., on the Des Plaines River; inc. 1857. It is a river port and an industrial shipping center, with limestone quarries and coal mines in the area, but riverboat casino gambling is now the city's primary industry., Ill., then moving on to become news service director for the Illinois Farm Bureau. He later served as head speechwriter for Secretary of Agriculture John Block and agricultural speechwriter for President Ronald Reagan. He has worked with New Holland since 1987. |
