NAFB celebrates 60 years at its annual convention.

The National Association of Farm Broadcasters celebrated its 60th anniversary during the organization's annual trade show and convention in Kansas City, Mo. In addition to professional development seminars and the traditional Trade Talk, a number of awards were presented during the convention. Don Wick of the Red River Farm Network, Vadnais Heights, Minn., was selected as the 2004 Farm Broadcaster of the Year. Tony Purcell of the Texas State Network, Arlington, Texas, received the New Holland Oscar in Agriculture, and Tom Cassidy of the Ag Radio Network, Utica, N.Y., was selected to receive the Horizon Award. The inaugural Plambeck Award for Creative Excellence was awarded to FMC, in conjunction with the company's agency, Nicholson Kovac, for the "Root of the Year" radio spot. "It was an honor to be the first recipient of this award," says Paul Redhage, FMC marketing manager. "FMC continues to support farm broadcasters because we recognize the valuable and timely information their listeners receive through NAFB NAFB - National Association of Farm Broadcasters
NAFB - Nellis Air Force Base (Nevada)
NAFB - Norton Air Force Base (California)
 member stations."
