NACVA Helps Its Members with Katrina Recovery.


SALT LAKE CITY -- The National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA NACVA National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts ) -- the nation's leading business valuation and consulting training and certification organization -- has put together a Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort for its members that includes pro bono Short for pro bono publico [Latin, For the public good]. The designation given to the free legal work done by an attorney for indigent clients and religious, charitable, and other nonprofit entities.  assistance to those who own businesses, temporary employment, office relocation, computers and office supplies. "We have approximately 50 members in the disaster zone (DZ) and 80 members in the nearby disaster zone (NBDZ) stretching from New Orleans to Alabama and Mississippi," said Parnell Black, NACVA CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , "and we've put together a disaster plan that will help them get their businesses up and running again."

"How Can We Assist You?"

NACVA's Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort includes a request for member assistance. Business owners can fill out the request on the NACVA Web site, www.nacva.com. NACVA will provide information, supplies, tools, office space and computers to members in the DZ areas. NACVA will offer membership dues forgiveness, free training, and free CEIR CEIR Center for Exhibition Industry Research

Disaster Damages: The Expert's Role and How to Recover

NACVA's disaster recovery experts are putting together a three-day workshop designed to help members in the DZ get back on their feet. The workshop will outline forensic accounting -- what to do, how to do it, and where to get and gather information in a disaster. The workshop will also define how to calculate lost business profits from a disaster. Instructors will provide case studies and sample reports. In turn, NACVA members will be able to write claims and help their clients rebuild their own businesses. Classes are tentatively scheduled in Houston on Nov. 28, 2005, and Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 11, 2005.
