NACO ANNOUNCES JOINT PROJECT WITH IBM CORPORATION
Local government leaders will soon have an opportunity to put

proven corporate planning techniques to use in their counties, enabling them to do more with less.
At a news conference next week, the National Association of Counties (NACo) and IBM will announce an agreement promoting a new methodology for use by county governments. The methodology was originally developed by IBM Corporation to enhance decision-making and organizational planning at IBM and other companies within the private sector.
Adapted to the public domain, the process, called Strategic Choices for Local Government Leaders, will assist counties in establishing shared visions and priorities through consensus and in making critically important choices and tradeoffs as they implement them successfully.
The news conference will be held at 12:30 p.m. in room 201 of the Minneapolis Convention Center on July 9. Speakers will include Richland County, N.D., Commissioner and NACo President Kaye Braaten; Ed Primozic, IBM management consultant; and NACo Executive Director Larry Naake.
CONTACT: Tom Goodman or Traci Dove of the National Association of Counties, 202-393-6226.
