NAB-HD Shifts into High Gear at NAB2006; HD Broadcast Studio Will Connect Viewers with the Pulse of NAB2006.


WASHINGTON -- Following up on a successful debut at last year's show, NAB-HD will return to NAB2006 in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States.  April 24 - 27. The fully-functional HD broadcast station will operate from the Show Floor in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center The Las Vegas Convention Center is owned and operated by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and is located in Clark County, Nevada. NAB-HD will provide a working-station environment and hands-on laboratory for broadcasters and other telecom professionals, and it will be the site of production, editing and transmission of HD content gleaned from the show for NAB's official daily video magazine. NAB-HD will also broadcast HD footage captured from the NAB-HD helicopter covering NAB2006 from the skies over Las Vegas.

Daily programs will be broadcast throughout the LVCC complex on 16:9 high-definition monitors, as well as to 75,000 hotel rooms in Las Vegas. For the first time, HD convention programming will be delivered to HD sets in every room of the Wynn Hotel.  Xtreme, who will broadcast from secret, remote locations, showcasing the ability to do live remote broadcasts in HD; interviews with industry executives and convention speakers; roundtable discussions on electronic media technology; and exhibit floor features.

NAB-HD will be using equipment supplied by more than 75 exhibitors and will be staffed by over 40 volunteers.
