NAAEI task groups work to enhance programs.

The NAA Education Institute (NAAEI) has created affiliate task groups to address issues and to provide valued input to the administration and delivery of NAAEI designation programs.

NAAEI Program Administration Chair John Mitchell, Executive Director of the Apartment Association of Tarrant County, spearheaded the formation of six subcommittees or task groups under his standing committee in February.

"This came as a result of discussions last year to work through, enhance and successfully implement existing education programs in closer partnership with affiliates, as well as to create new initiatives to improve delivery of services," said NAAEI Executive Vice President Stephanie Powers.

Mitchell said the NAAEI staff, Board of Directors and committee members, designates and affiliates "provided thoughtful input with the consensus that there must a focused effort to meet these goals."

Following are the task groups formed and their respective Chairs:

* Affiliate Relations, Susan Weston, Pinnacle, Dallas

* Designate Relations, Nena Gang, Executive Vice President, Bay Area Apartment Association, Tampa, Fla.

* Online Exams, Gary Scarboro, CAPS, CAE, Executive Vice President, Apartment Association of Greater Orlando, Orlando, Fla.

* Program Pricing and Delivery, Mark Williams, Executive Vice President, Apartment Association of Metro Denver

* Direct Sales, Patrick McCloud, Chief Executive Officer, Central Virginia Apartment Association, Richmond

* Marketing, Patrick McCloud, Chief Executive Officer, Central Virginia Apartment Association, Richmond The task group names are descriptive by design and meant to clearly convey their charges. The groups' first meetings were held in February and March. The groups formulated several work plans that include short- and long-range goals. The task group chairs reported on these efforts at the Capital Conference in March during the Program Administrative Committee meeting.

Curry College President Honored

Kenneth K. Quigley Jr., President of Curry College, received the Rental Housing Association's 2006 Excellence in Public Service Award at the RHA's President's Award Dinner in November 2006 in Boston.

"Under [Quigley's] leadership, Curry College created the Residential Property Management program," said Robert J. McCullough, President of RHA. "[Quigley's] unique partnership, which includes internships with Boston-area companies, is truly a win-win for our industry.

"While some RHA members are large national companies, many more do not have the resources to train their employees internally. Access to those highly qualified candidates is an invaluable resource for many of our members. We continue to be impressed with the intensity of the curriculum and the efforts of Ken to advance our industry."

RHA, a NAA affiliate, consists of more than 525 members.
