N.Y.P.D. Blue.


AFTER months of battling ABC's programmers over his accustomed Tuesday-night slot, producer Steven Bochco Steven Ronald Bochco (born December 16, 1943) is an American television producer and writer. He has been involved in a number of popular hits including Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law, and NYPD Blue.  is returning "N.Y.P.D. Blue" to prime time beginning Jan. 11 - with some new cast members, grittier story lines and spicy bedroom developments.

Underscoring that last point is the opening episode in which Rick Schroder's character becomes involved with a female cop in a nude lovemaking love·mak·ing

Nudity is nothing new to Bochco, who helped introduce it to prime time when the series made its debut in 1993 (much to the dismay of conservative affiliate station owners).

Another romantic beat in the series' seventh season will be Dennis Franz's character, Det. Andy Sipowicz Andy Sipowicz was a fictional character on the popular ABC television series NYPD Blue. He was played for the entire run of the show by Dennis Franz.

Sipowicz is a New York City police detective working in a fictionalized 15th Precinct placed on the lower east side
, who became a widower at the end of last season. He will start dating.

Kim Delany's character will also add a love interest, an FBI agent. Andrea Thompson's Det. Jill Kirkendall will square off with her sleazy slea·zy

What should also help the returning cop show's ratings is the fact that 22 new episodes will be aired in a row, without the usual reruns interspersed.

"N.Y.P.D. Blue" replaces ABC's slumping "Once and Again," which has occupied "N.Y.P.D.'s" Tuesday 10p.m. time slot Continuously repeating interval of time or a time period in which two devices are able to interconnect.  since the beginning of the new season.

Major U.S. television network. It began when the expanding national radio network NBC split into the separate Red and Blue networks in 1928.
 programmers were considering bumping the cop show for the romantic drama until Bochco began protesting the possible decision, saying that ABC was favoring "Once and Again," which is produced by the network's parent, Wait Disney Co.

"Once and Again" will move to Mondays at 10p.m.
